7in1 Vaccination All calves at Te Mania Angus are vaccinated twice as weaners, in January and February, and are given their annual boosters in March. We recommend bulls be given a 7 in 1 vaccination annually, 2 to 4 weeks prior to joining.
Vibriosis vaccination Vibriosis is a common cause of infertility and is transmitted by bulls from one female to another. It is easily prevented by vaccination. Te Mania sale bulls are given the initial two vaccinations, four weeks apart, prior to sale. We recommend bulls be given a Vibriosis vaccination prior to joining each year.
Pestivirus (also known as BVD) Te Mania Angus cattle are all Ear notch tested before sale to make sure they are not PI. A wide scale Ear notch testing/eradication program has been carried out within the herd – we believe Te Mania has no PI animals. Bulls are vaccinated prior to sale so they are protected in the event they come in contact with the virus after leaving Te Mania Angus.
Johnes Disease The Te Mania Angus herd is tested to be free of Johnnes Disease. It is Monitored Negative Three (MN3) Status for Johne’s Disease. Certificate No - VC100.
Worm control Te Mania Angus bulls are drenched at weaning, after joining periods and as necessary at other times according to worm counts.
Fertility All Te Mania Angus bulls are examined by a veterinarian prior to lease/sale. The examination includes palpation of the sexual anatomy and testicles.
